Syracuse, NY's 95X (WAQX) and Stern
This is the second message aired by 95X General Manager Darren Smith in response to the situation involving Citadel (owner of 95X) deciding company-wide to cut off the Howard Stern show promptly at 10 AM in all of its markets. Apparently his first message, in combination with Stern talking on the air at length about the situation, lead to the DJs on the station fielding a large number of complaint phone calls. Here is the disclaimer that first aired on Monday, December 6, 2004 during a commercial break in Stern's show on 95X; thanks again to Brian Hofer from SyracuseBroadcast.com for the audio.
Transcript:
"I'm Darren Smith, the General Manager of 95X. I want to share our thoughts on Howard Stern. He's been heard on 95X for eight years, and we're sorry that he's leaving broadcast radio. Lately his show seems to spend too much time talking about his new employer instead of entertaining his listeners. So, we've started the music at 10 o'clock each day. The 95X personalities did not make this decision, and we hope you'll keep listening to 95X and support our advertisers."
