Pre-2004 News Archive

December 23, 2003
Happy Holidays! Pittsburgh's Channel 97 (WRRK) is debuting the Bob & Tom show on January 5, 2004. This is part of a chain reaction: Clear Channel is flipping WJJJ to WPGB, which will become an all-talk station featuring WRRK's former morning show, Quinn & Rose, for morning drive.

No Howard Stern for San Antonio, as Infinity is bringing in Kidd Criss for mornings on K-Rock 102.7 (KSRX, formerly CHR KTFM).

December 16, 2003
Bob & Tom are widely rumored to be the show slated to replace Quinn & Rose on Pittsburgh's Channel 97 (WRRK). Quinn & Rose are going to do mornings on Clear Channel's forthcoming FM talk station, currently Rhythmic Oldies WJJJ, which will go talk next month. This comes just weeks after Bob & Tom reupped with 102.9 The Buzz (WBUZ) Nashville, a market that the show has had for years (beginning on sister station 102.5 when that signal carried a classic rock format, then shifting to WZPC with a rare country affiliate, and staying on board as WZPC shifted to modern rock in April 1999).

Lex & Terry are relaunching their official website on 1/1/2004.

So far, there's been no indication by Infinity that it will include any of its Hot Talk stations (KLSX, WJFK-FM, etc.) in its deal with AOL that is providing webstreaming of selected stations for AOL customers.

November 26, 2003
Bob & Tom have reupped their distribution deal with Premiere Radio (terms undisclosed), while Don & Mike gained a new FM affiliate (KRKQ in Des Moines, IA), which puts them on the same station with Bob & Tom for the first time in recent memory (since KRKQ held over Bob & Tom from its old Adult Contemporary format).

October 8, 2003
Bubba The Love Sponge begins on morning today on WRQC in Ft. Myers; the Bob Narley show (formerly in morning drive) shifts to afternoons on the station.

September 29, 2003
WDTW Detroit drops Bob & Tom, going with a classic rock intensive morning show. Also, WXNR Greenville/New Bern, NC has announced that it will not be renewing Howard Stern, which it currently runs at night on a tape delay. This is not a surprise move given that the station dropped Stern from mornings in favor of Lex & Terry last year.

September 24, 2003
-Updates are now complete for Bubba The Love Sponge (loss of WMRQ Hartford), Don & Mike (loss of KQBZ Seattle) and Phil Hendrie (miscellaneous corrections).

September 11, 2003
The Phil Hendrie page is now online, completing the last of the unfinished listings for this site.

September 10, 2003
The listings for John & Jeff and Tom Leykis are now online. I also updated the Bob & Tom affiliate list.

September 8, 2003
WYNF Macon, GA flips from hot talk to modern rock as "96.5 The Buzz". Bubba The Love Sponge remains for morning drive, but the Monsters of the Midday, Philips Phile and Lex & Terry are now gone from the station. Lex & Terry are now carried in Macon on WQBZ carried from 10 PM-2 AM.

September 5, 2003
-Lex & Terry returned to WZZR/WCZR West Palm Beach late last month.

July 29, 2003
-A dispute with management lead to the Monsters of the Midday being dropped from the WZZR/WCZR simulcast in West Palm/Ft. Pierce as of 7/28/2003.

-WTLX Madison, WI "100X" has dropped Howard Stern effective immediately. It is stunting in morning drive with polka music until a new, as-of-yet unnamed new morning show is in place. On AllAccess.com, 100X cited the cost of Stern's program as the reason for the move.
