It's another northwest conquest for Bob & Tom, as they've signed up with World Class Rock 107.5 (KLTC-FM) in Mizzoula, MT. The Clear Channel-owned station recently flipped from CHR as Wild 107.5 (though, in a rather funny error, Bob & Tom have the old Wild 107.5 logo on their front page celebrating their newest affiliate).

In a tragic accident, Freda Sorce, the wife of Don & Mike's Don Geronimo (real name: Mike Sorce), died last night from injuries suffered in a head-on car crash near Ocean City, MD. DCRTV.com broke the story this morning, but I held off on posting anything about it until I heard how the D&M show handled it. They're having a live show today, with Don Geronimo not in (understandably), but the rest of the staff taking calls, reminiscing about Freda, etc. Since they're talking about it on the show, I don't have a problem mentioning it on here.
I wrote the D&M show and passed along my condolences (and those from the BTLS show). It's been quite a show to hear today, with everyone clearly in an emotional state, including the callers.
Best wishes to everyone who knew Freda and who is associated with the Don & Mike show.

In the funniest radio stunt in years, the Howard Stern show returned from a two-week vacation by pretending it had been replaced by David Lee Roth. The premise was plausable, as WXRK/New York is believed to have Roth slated as Stern's replacement. The stunt lasted an hour, with the hysterically funny Roth impersonator Billy Mira playing the role of Roth as the host. Embarrassingly, many mainstream media outlets fell for the stunt, thinking it was real and reporting it as such. And some people wonder why I got out of the TV news business.
The bit was brilliant in that it turned the audience against Roth before he ever even cracked the mic, and it also exposed Infinity Broadcasting's plans well ahead of time. Stern, always a master of timing, announced this morning that he had confirmation that Roth would be replacing him in New York City and that Adam Carolla would be replacing him on KLSX/Los Angeles, KPLN/San Diego, and in "two other markets". Those are most likely west coast markets; it almost surely wouldn't be Seattle (which is Entercom-owned KISW), but possiblities include Sacramento, Phoenix, San Francisco, or Portland (OR), all of which are Infinity O&O stations.
One other note: Don Geronimo is tentatively scheduled to return to the Don & Mike show on Monday, August 1, 2005, according to DCRTV.com. I'm told that Don & Mike going to mornings in DC and Baltimore is a done deal for whenever Infinity flips the switch on removing Stern, though Don Geronimo's return is clearly a separate issue, and all parties have been sympathetic to the incredibly difficult situation that he and his family have been going through. Incidentally, if you want to send cards, letters, or donations to the Worcester County Humane Society in Freda Sorce's memory, information for how to do that is available on donandmikewebsite.com.
