April 2006 News Archive

April 23, 2006
In a major shock, Opie & Anthony are reported to be returning to terrestrial radio... via CBS Radio, their former employer (then known as Infinity Broadcasting.) CBS Radio, in one of the worst thought-out radio contracts ever, fired David Lee Roth on Friday, less than four months into a two year, $8 million guaranteed deal. The report with O&A is that they are going to debut on Wednesday in all seven of Roth's former markets. They will do live, three-hour shows that will air live both on XM and on these stations: WFNY/New York, WBCN/Boston, WYSP/Philadelphia, KLLI Dallas, WRKZ/Pittsburgh, and WPBZ/West Palm Beach. In the sixth Roth market, Cleveland, O&A will air on tape-delay in afternoon drive on WXRK; Rover (who has the same agent as O&A) airs in morning drive in that city, and there's no indication what Roth's former station in Cleveland, WNCX, will do for mornings.

On top of the three hour show for terrestrial radio, Opie & Anthony will reportedly do another two hours of uncensored radio exclusively for XM.
