Lex & Terry have landed their largest current market, signing on as of this morning with classic rock WHPT Sarasota (which, with a 75 mile coverage radius, gives the station city-grade coverage into the Tampa Bay area). The move by Cox Tampa creates an interesting battle in the fight for the male demographics left wide open by last month's firing of Bubba The Love Sponge by Clear Channel. This should further fuel the feud between WHPT and Clear Channel's classic rocker WTBT, which brought in the Bob & Tom show last month.
Also, Lex & Terry landed WCLG-FM in Morgantown, WV (home of the University of West Virginia). That station had been looking to boost its morning ratings since at least the first of the year (when management approached me concerning the possibility of bringing Bubba on board, shortly before the FCC's NAL came down against Bubba's former affiliates). For Lex & Terry, the pair of signings signals a move in the right direction; since the start of 2004, the show has picked up four new affiliates.

Howard Stern remains "indefinitely suspended" from his six former Clear Channel owned affiliates. At this point, WTKS-FM Orlando is running the Monsters of the Midday in morning drive (as the Monsters in the Morning); the show is also airing on former Bubba The Love Sponge affiliates WXTB Tampa and WPLA Jacksonville (which briefly aired the Regular Guys out of WKLS in Atlanta before switching back to the Monsters). I've been told that the Monsters move is a "temporary" setup, but the odds of Stern returning to WTKS-FM becomes more and more unlikely as every week passes.
In the Lafayette, Indiana market, 95.3 WLLF and 95.7 WSHP (Bob & Tom's affiliate) switched signals. Bob & Tom are now heard in Lafayette on 95.3, which gives better coverage to the north (and avoides some of the duplicity to the south of the overlap from Indianapolis' WFBQ, Bob & Tom's flagship station).

Bob & Tom stay busy, as they add WWRR Jacksonville, FL (taking advantage of Bubba The Love Sponge's absence in the market) along with a pair of eagles (WEGT Tallahassee, FL and KHYS Abilene, TX). Meanwhile, Bubba's former affiliate in Ft. Myers, WRQC, picks up Lex & Terry as a replacement; Lex & Terry also land KRPX Corpus Christi, TX as a new affiliate.
